Trees for Missoula is now a program of Climate Smart Missoula!
We are excited to announce that as of Fall 2023, Trees for Missoula has officially become a program of Climate Smart Missoula. After 12 years of vision, service, and education, Trees for Missoula’s founding member and volunteer Executive Director, Karen Sippy, is stepping down and passing the torch to Climate Smart Missoula. Climate Smart Missoula is dedicated to continuing Karen’s work and upholding Trees for Missoula’s mission of promoting a healthy and sustainable urban forest through community planning, planting, stewardship, education and advocacy.
As we take on the role of supporting urban forestry efforts, we are committed to executing this work through the lens of climate change. Building a climate-resilient community is one of our many efforts at Climate Smart Missoula. Urban trees are an essential piece of climate resiliency efforts, as they have the power to sequester carbon emissions and protect us against hotter temperatures and other extreme weather events.
Climate Smart Missoula is eager to build upon the work that has been done by Trees for Missoula. We are grateful to Karen for creating and growing a successful organization. We aim to have the same dedication as we advocate for a healthy urban forest that will benefit the Missoula community.
